Outcome‑Based Education

Outcome‑Based Education (OBE)

What is OBE?

Outcome‑Based Education is a student‑centred approach that defines clear, measurable outcomes students must achieve by the end of a course or programme. Curriculum, teaching methods and assessment are aligned to ensure these outcomes are met.

Our OBE Philosophy

We design programmes around Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs), Programme Outcomes (POs) and Course Outcomes (COs) so graduates become competent, industry‑ready and ethically responsible.

Key Components

  1. Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)
Long‑term goals for graduates’ career and civic achievements.
  1. Programme Outcomes (POs)
Specific capabilities expected at programme completion (domain knowledge, problem solving, communication, teamwork, use of modern tools, ethics).
  1. Course Outcomes (COs)
Measurable statements for each course, mapped to POs and assessed through tests, projects and practicals.
  1. Assessment & Feedback
Continuous internal evaluation and end‑semester exams, plus indirect feedback (surveys, employer input).
Rubrics and quantitative measures determine CO/PO attainment and guide corrective actions.
  1. Learning Support
Mentoring, remedial classes, workshops, internships and projects to help students meet outcomes.

Benefits

  • Clear expectations for students
  • Improved employability through demonstrable skills
  • Transparent, measurable programme quality
  • Alignment with industry needs and accreditation standards

Implementation Snapshot

  • Course syllabi include COs mapped to POs/PEOs.
  • Faculty record attainment and apply corrective measures.
  • Stakeholder feedback (students, alumni, employers) informs continuous improvement.

We follow University of Mumbai OBE guidelines to ensure graduates are skilled, adaptable and accountable.
